Meadowlark Farms does NOT recommend giving birds medication without first knowing exactly what it is you are treating. You should NEVER guess! Guessing can lead to over-medicating. Over-medicating can cause severe liver and kidney damage or even death.

Only in rare instances can this damage be repaired.

Before administering ANY type of medication, it is important to consult with a qualified Avian Veterinarian. The wrong medication may be deadly to your bird.

It is also important to note that while using a "multiple issue" medication may be useful for pigeons and other large outdoor flock birds, we feel it is unwise to treat your birds for what they may not have. We do not recommend these products for Gouldians or other small finches.

Use of these medications when not needed can allow the "bugs" to build up an immunity making it very difficult to treat when truly necessary. Some multiple issue products contain medications that are not recommended for high metabolism birds, specifically Gouldians. Therefore, we do not sell this type of product.

If you know which illness you are trying to treat but are confused about which medication you need, please call us before ordering. We'll be happy to assist you!

Always follow the directions on the container - too much can kill your bird, too little may result in prolonging the illness unnecessarily.

Rule of thumb: Read the directions at least twice before mixing meds! If you are still unclear about any dosages for products we carry, contact us for assistance!
